Homemade and Handmade, Amelia Sage

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about what is actually IN our M.I.L.K. Boxes. When we initially came up with the concept for these boxes, we knew it was something that would continually evolve over time. Making the shift from gathering products from big-box stores to small, locally owned businesses was a no-brainer.

It’s no secret that Your Milk Shoppe’s core mission is to support and empower women. There’s nothing we love more than sharing the loving work of other female entrepreneurs with our beloved MamaTribe! In that spirit, our dream of providing handmade and homemade goodies to mamas everywhere is becoming a reality, and almost all of the products within these boxes are created by women (and moms!) further supporting our mission. Since October is National Women’s Small Business Month, we figured now would be a great time to start to share some of these seriously amazing products, and the stories of the craftswomen behind these one-of-a-kind brands.

First up: meet Cortney, owner of Amelia Sage. Her focus is all about pampering; 100% natural bath, body and beauty products that are completely safe for both mom and baby. Fun fact: she makes her honey and beeswax based products with the sweet nectar from HER bees! Yep, she’s a real beekeeper. (Of course we’re saying it: she’s the bees knees! ;))

Cortney made the switch to a real, whole foods diet about a decade ago and noticed significant improvements in her health. She recognized the importance of a chemical-free lifestyle and began integrating natural alternatives to conventional body care and household products into her routine.

Cortney is a busy mother to two little girls. She has found many creative ways over the years to keep her household as natural and chemical-free as possible while on a budget. Making her own personal care products became a necessity, and her family and friends started to notice her handmade creations; her body butter and hand salve, in particular. She gave them away as gifts and everyone started raving about them, loving that they were simple, yet amazingly rich and nourishing. From there, Cortney’s product line began to grow. All of the products are handmade with 100% natural ingredients such as local beeswax and honey; ingredients that Cortney trusts and loves for her own family.

Amelia Sage, named after Cortney’s girls’ middle names, was created because she saw the need to offer her honest, pure, handmade natural body care products to her community and beyond. Busy families need options: affordable, healthy alternatives to conventional products.

All Amelia Sage products are handmade in South Carolina in small batches, and are also hand poured and hand labeled. Ingredients are free of GMOs, animal testing, synthetic oils, fragrances, parabens and petroleum. The beautiful, natural, handmade feel of Amelia Sage products is perfect for that little everyday pick-me-up, or for gift-giving. When you purchase from her store, you are not only supporting a small family-owned business, you are taking a big step towards a more chemical-free household for your loved ones.

While we love ALL of Cortney’s products (lip balm, hand salve, face cream…we could go on and on…) we are ecstatic about the new batch of lavender whipped body butter and honey face masks we just received for our next shipment of M.I.L.K. Boxes!
